This week has been full of them…
Wednesday was a busy morning as usual, with graphics lab to hand in (managed to get full marks for the parts that I did, which worked out as 70%) followed by an extended break for lunch as our graphics lecture was cancelled. PASS followed, and as usual none of the students (apart from one group in which everyone turns up) could be bothered making it so instead we sat down and planned a way of encouraging attendance for next week. How exciting.
After PASS I went to meet Lizzy and Kate to see Singing in the Rain, and we were joined by Kirk and Rachel as well. The film was a good laugh, I really liked the Cosmo Brown character as he was very funny in parts. The songs were great too, especially the classic that the film gets its name from. We were all a bit concerned at the end though when the film finished (no credits – they were at the beginning) and whoever was in charge of that screen forgot to turn the lights on so we had to walk out in the dark—I think they’d forgotten about us! 🙂
We decided to get something to eat from Pizza Express, where the staff must have thought I looked like I needed a drink because they brought me beer instead of the coke I asked for. I had the garlic doughballs and Margherita pizza, exciting as always.
On Thursday Kirk and I had planned to go to an “accomodation fair” at MMU, but when we got there it was about 6 stalls in a little room, mostly consisting of private hall representatives. I don’t know how that counted as a fair, but I did manage to get details for a couple of properties that are probably worth chasing up.
Whilst at the “fair” I got a text off Lizzy asking if I wanted to go and see Robots that afternoon. I’d already seen the film but it was a good laugh last time so I didn’t mind going again. It ended up with us being the only two people in the screen, and given that Lizzy had a free ticket offer the AMC only made £3.00 from that showing. 🙂
After the cinema we headed off to Starbucks for a drink and talked for a long time until I realised that I was already quite late for the union hustings where you could quiz some of the political figures in our area, so I set off there to meet the Megs and Lizzy went home to watch French films or something.
The union hustings weren’t all that exciting, although the UKIP candidate sounded more like he was from the Monster Raving Loony Party – at least he was honest enough to admit that his election material was propaganda though. We ended up in the union bar afterwards, but it was crowded, noisy and full of those lazy, good for nothing students so we didn’t stay long. 🙂
I was off to FAB Cafe to meet Warped as the Queen Bee was up in Manchester this week, so the last remaining members of Megs decided to join us. Lots of people were there, although the numbers dwindled fairly quickly as people had work the next day. I stayed until the last people were ready to go, although I wasn’t really drinking other than one pint of Carlsberg because I still didn’t feel too good.
Friday was pretty dull, we had a databases lab which I left early to get some lunch, followed by a boring software engineering lecture and an even more boring databases lecture. Thankfully I didn’t have anything in the afternoon so I could go home early.
Saturday and Sunday were fairly boring affairs—I was supposed to be going to the cinema with Lizzy to see Valiant but that fell apart at the last minute so I spent most of the two days doing work, which is probably just as well since I have a lot on at the moment. I also managed to watch the latest episode of Doctor Who, which was good and I especially enjoyed the references to the weapons capable of mass destruction that could be launched within 45 seconds. 🙂
Other than the above I’ve been feeling strangely ill since Monday, not really felt hungry at all and whenever I’ve had something to eat it’s made me feel worse. Hopefully I’ll be back to normal by tomorrow night though, and a bit less stressed out too. I guess things are going fairly well overall though.
I’ve been feeling a bit ill this week. Must be the weather or something.
Yes, those houses are worth chasing up. But you’ve got the details…
